In contrast to conventional methods, with Cleantan^® all the chrome that is used during tanning ends up in the leather itself. Instead of water, compressed carbon dioxide is used to achieve a deep diffusion of chrome ions into the leather. Accordingly, with Cleantan^® there is no wastewater after pickling and tanning, which opens a wide range of possibilities for sustainable leather production
